Help: Mouse Buttons Not Recognized
How to make BetterTouchTool recognize your Mouse Buttons
BetterTouchTool can recognize mouse button presses as long as the mouse driver sends standard button events. Unfortunately, many newer mice don't do this by default.
Logitech Mice
BetterTouchTool supports Logitech mice natively. It implements parts of Logitech's HID++ 2.0 protocol (https://github.com/Logitech/cpg-docs/tree/master/hidpp20).
See Logitech Support for how to set up your Logitech mouse in BetterTouchTool.
Other Mice
If you've installed a driver or other software for your mouse, make sure you haven't assigned any actions to the buttons in that software. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling the driver/software. If BTT still doesn't recognize your mouse buttons after that, your mouse is most likely not supported. Some mice also act as a keyboard, so check whether BTT's "Keyboard Shortcuts" section recognizes a shortcut when you press one of the buttons.
Razer mice don't need any setup for their side buttons. For buttons that the mouse's firmware handles itself (e.g. the DPI button), see Razer Mouse Support.
