Hold Layers
A hold layer gives the controller a second set of functions while one button is held, like a Shift key. For example:
- The right stick scrolls, but zooms while R2 is held.
- Cross ✕ clicks, but copies while L1 is held, and Circle ○ pastes while L1 is held.
Adding a layer
- Open the profile in the Live view.
- Click + Hold Layer above the controller and choose the layer button. A new tab appears, e.g. While R2.
- With the layer tab selected, click the buttons that should do something else while the layer button is held, and assign their actions.
- Use the menus below the controller to change what the sticks and the touchpad do in this layer, or leave them Unchanged.
In a layer tab, the layer button has an orange outline. Controls without a layer action are dimmed. If they have a normal action, they show an outlined dot, which means they keep that action while the layer is held.
How layers behave
- Holding the layer button activates the layer.
- Tapping the layer button without using the layer still runs its own normal action, so R2 can still work as a regular button.
- While the configuration window is focused, holding the layer button on your controller switches to its tab.
Without the Live view
You can add layers in the profile settings under Hold Layers, where you can also set the stick modes for each layer. To put a trigger into a layer, set Active in its settings to Only while … is held.
To remove a layer, right-click its tab in the Live view, or use Remove Layer… in the profile settings. Removing a layer also removes its triggers.
For advanced setups
The held layer button is available in the variable gamepad_active_layer, and all currently
held buttons in currently_pressed_gamepad_buttons. You can use both in Conditional Activation
Groups. See Actions & Variables.
